Kate Hudson has a talent as an actor. She is best known for her portrayal of Penny Lane from the Hollywood film Almost Famous. Her nomination for the Academy Award was her most well-known performance. She was born into a film family, Hudson appeared to be destined to the limelight as a child. Her mother Goldie Hawn was a film actor , and her father Bill Hudson is comedian. At a very young age she was a performer and would seize every opportunity to perform on stage. She was taught dancing by her parents and also took ballet lessons at the Santa Monica Playhouse when she was a young child. In 1996, she began acting when she was offered the role in the TV drama Party of Five. She was accepted into New York University, however, Kate Hudson was more interested in getting into show business instead of pursuing an education. After acting in a few minor films her audition was for the role that would prove to be her biggest breakthrough in her career. She was chosen to play Penny Lane in the comedy drama film Almost Famous. In spite of being a box-office failure the film was greeted with positive reviews from critics and made a name for Kate as an actor within the American film industry.
